AMATH Assignment Generator - Technical Support
1. Network System Requirements
-
Server running Novell Netware, NT, Windows 2000,
Windows XP, or a Peer-to-Peer Windows Network
-
CD-ROM Drive
-
Mb Free Server Space
-
Clients with Windows 95 or newer.
2. Network Installation Instructions
-
Place the provided CD in the drive of a computer
with access to your application server. If the install program
does not start
automatically, run the setup.exe file found on the CD.
Important! When prompted for an installation
directory, make sure to preserve the default directory structure
or your software
may not work correctly. For example do not simply choose
"Z:" as your installation directory. This
will cause an error. Instead, and preferred, specify "Z:\amath\agen\",
or "Z:\aps\amath\agen\". Please make note
of the installation directory. It will be needed for the next
steps.
After installation, the network user rights need
to be modified before AMATH Assignment generator will run
correctly. For the
assignment generator, we recommend that only teachers have
access to it. In the installation directory,
you will need to assign the corresponding network rights (for
the users/groups who will use the program)
to the following three files:
-
AssignGen.exe: Execute
-
Wardnew.mdb: All but Administrative
-
master.txt: Read
Copy the system files to the Windows/System
directory of each client machine. If your client machines are
running Windows NT, be
sure to copy the system files to the proper NT system directory.
The system files can be
found on your installation CD in a directory titled "systemfiles".
Be careful not to overwrite any system files that
are newer that the ones supplied on the installation CD.
On each of the clients, map a network drive to
the AMATH installation directory. Create a shortcut on each of
the client computers to
the executable "AssignGen.exe". This shortcut must go
through the mapped drive. It is suggested
that you rename the shortcut to "AMATH Assignment
Generator". Do not use the right click then "send
to desktop as shortcut" method. This method is not
compatible with mapped network drives. You must first
create a shortcut and copy/cut and paste it to the desired
location.
Test the Assignment generator on each client
machine. If the login screen is not displayed, then you may be
presented with any number of error messages.
Almost all errors can be corrected by performing the following
operations.
-
Restart the computer.
-
Click on Start and then Run. In the text box
type " regsvr32
/u dao350.dll"
without the quotation marks
and then click OK.
Click on Start and then Run. In the text box
type "regsvr32
/c c:\windows\system\dao350.dll"
and then click OK.
For more detail, refer to the document
"agenfix.pdf" located on your installation CD.
3. Stand Alone Installation
Follow all of the steps for network installation
except 2.2 and 2.3. Please only install the Assignment generator on
only one stand-alone machine. The assignment generator stores
assignments in a database, and if there are multiple
copies of the database, people will become very confused.
